OUR VALUES

OUR CORE PURPOSE

To improve the state of the world’s oceans. Through research, action, education and development of ideas: all of our projects are devoted to this core idea.

Acknowledge that we all share challenges, and can all be part of the solution

No one person, group or intention caused our environment to exist in the way it does now. Inevitably, it is a function of us all - all humans here now and those that have gone before. As an organization we do not accuse others of causing problems but seek to form collaborations with those willing to play the hand we are dealt to further our core purpose.

CAUSE NO UNNECESSARY HARM

All our actions exist within the web of the environment, and have consequences good and bad. The diesel fuel in our vessels is a pollutant and there is the potential to damage ecosystems when we remove lost fishing gear. We do not expect us to be perfect, but we are committed to seek to do less harm and more good.

DIVERSITY

We are committed to understand that the differences between humans might cause each of us to experience different challenges or advantages. As an organization we are committed to learning about the ways this effects the communities and people we work with and to act in the direction of equity of access to opportunity.

INCLUSION

Celebrating, valuing and amplifying perspectives, voices and values that have been disadvantaged or marginalized.

CURIOSITY

Never stop learning.
